The Healing Place - Women & Children's Community
Address:
15th And Hill Street
Louisville, KY
Description:
The Healing Place offers alcohol and drug addiction recovery services to Louisville's homeless. This multi-story building incorporated the use of CMU and brick exterior wall construction and various roofing material such as modified bitumen, asphalt shingles, and metal for architectural appeal. The 73,000 sqft facility was built with the environment and sustainability in mind. The Healing Place was built seeking LEED certification (Leadership in Enviromental Engineering and Design). Materials and building practices followed LEED guidelines to ensure low impact on the environment. Unique “green” features included a ground-source geothermal heat pump mechanical system to provide the lowest possible operating cost. The building’s lower operating cost qualify it for zoning allowances and incentives. The facility was completed in November 2009. The architect is K.Norman Berry Associates Architects in Louisville, KY.
